Default New (to me) ObG TBird

Got this from a fella on the Pit, I couldn't be happier. I like it a hell of a lot better than the Bird I got last month actually. It's a 1993 model and the pickups( USA?)are louder, seem to have more tone than the TB Plus pu's.

I've been reading about these basses and I was wondering what kind of pickups exactly are in it.

Sounds good and looks great too! A couple months ago I bought two of the chrome TB pickups from an Orville bass for a 2003 TB I'm rehabbing. I'm glad to hear you like the tone of them, I'm looking forward to putting mine in over the holidays.

They are beuties, aren't they? I haven't ever heard a definitive answer on whether those are USA pups or of Japanese origin. I thought they were US made. Lack of pup rings always looks odd with those though.

Nice- and you got a smokin deal, if this is the same one I remember from the Pit GFS.

As one who is easily mesmerized by bright, shiny objects, I have to say that some pickup rings from Frets on the Net would look sharp on that!

I love my Elitist, which I think is constructed similarly, but has what looks like Les Paul TB+ pickups. Its bell-like midrange really delivers in a live setting, and cuts thru the mix nicely.

I agree about the pickup rings, that's what its missing and I'll check into getting some, thanks! I'm even sort of happy with the 3 point bridge ....right now.

Used it at a party tonight and man, this one is a keeper. Love it.

So which pickup rings would I get for this one?

Orville have Japanese pups, "Orville By Gibson" have US. Mine's a keeper, too Ray. Glad you like it!

Ray-
The Tbird pickup rings are towards the very bottom of that page. These are the ones that would fit your ObG:

I also noticed that Mr. Johnny Crab's installation tutorial is posted there now:

It's like acupuncture for Tbirds!
