http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=386400

Over at the "Land of the open mindedness"* that is talkbass someone has a Elitist T-bird for sale. I'm not connected to them in any way but thought someone here might be interested. Jules, if this isn't allowed then by all means delete it.

Great bass - don't see 'em around much.

I still don't get the whole neck dive thing. Even with the stock strap button location and tuners, I've never found mine to be problematic or annoying - guess I'm just not that picky. Maybe its the straps I use - 3.5" Levy straps (or 4.5" on the heavy beasts).

Well, he does state that his does'nt dive. However I know what you mean. Most people think of T'birds as neck divers. I suspect a lot of it comes from strapping on Epi's which I believe are more prone to that considering the chunkier maple necks. One of my Bicentennials have a slight neck dive from the body being light weight.

Default neck dive

I think playing style has a lot to do with it; if you play with a pick, resting your hand near the bridge prevents any diving. I would play like that for some music, but, I actually prefer to play fingerstyle at the neck, and that suits my current projects better. My '79 dives quite annoyingly when I play like that.

I play finger style only and my Bicentennial is a neck diver. But I'm used to it now. I used those suede straps, but I hate the way they're pulling my clothes at my shoulder. I use just normal straps now and I'm used to the neck putting some weight on my left hand.

I usually just put an additional strap pin at the heel this somewhat changes the center of gravity. That and shortening up the strap so about half of body is above my navel pretty much make this a non-issue and improves my playing...(needs all the help!)
