Default Gibson Faded Les Paul

Hi all,

I just purchased my first Gibson bass, a Faded Les Paul. I gigged with it last weekend and am very pleased- the tone is huge! Ergonomically, it is going to take a little getting used to- it obviously hangs a bit differently than my Fenders.

My question is about the finish...how should it be cared for? Will regular guitar polish do the trick or should I be applying wax?

Thanks in advance!

Wax. Regular polish will make it all shiny unless you want that effect. That said you will neither have to wax nor polish it that much if you play it a lot because your sweat will make it become more shiny in any case. The neck should already be shiny in a few weeks from now if you play it a couple of times a week.

Those Faded LPs are nice basses - compared to the other LPs they have their front pup a full inch closer to the neck adding some real ooomph.

Default LP faded

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

The neck is already shining up nicely...I have gigged with it once and practiced with it every evening since I got it.

It has ooomph alright...very big sound...much different from the Fenders. Very cool growl with the neck pickup rolled off a bit.
