Default Retro-ised SG reissue bass

I initially posted this message a month a go, but it seems to have gone...

check these pics

The bass belongs to Sean O'leary (seano) - he's retro-ised his SG reissue bass - note the bridge cover, inlaid crown and Gibson logo on the headstock

Very nice indeed!

I prefer the lack of a varitone, or even a toggle switch. The tone was never the issue, just the cosmetics ...

FYI -- I bought the bridge cover unchromed on Ebay for $20.00 from old stock in Kalamazoo, then had my luthier have it chromed for another $20.00 ... the truss rod cover was also replaced with a straight black one, and a bone nut was installed in place of the originial plastic job; this has positively affected the sustain. I run her dry through an Acoustic Image amp; she's very live, warm, and fully Gibson, the best Gibby I've ever owned/played.

Default SG reissue mods

II like these mods - especially the headstock. The only thing I have seriously considered with mine is to put a 60s EB humbucker in there.

Just wonder how it will work with the rest of the circuit. I think I will try it at some point.

Hey Seano - I bought the same bridge cover, but I'm having a tough time getting it chromed. I did find one place in TX (I'm in SC) that would do it for $150, but the tax return money went to a new bathroom floor. When I saw that you got it done for $20 my hopes soared! Who's your luthier? Once I get the bridge cover done, my '70 lefty EB3 will be looking perfect.
