Default I really want an EB-2DC

Hi guys . . . this is my first post on this great forum. I play a Hofner Club bass in a 60's cover group. However, I have always lusted after an EB-2, preferably with dual pups and in cherry finish. Here is one that is currently listed on eBay

http://cgi.ebay.com/1966-Gibson-EB-2D-E ... dZViewItem

I'm looking for any advice you guys have to offer. Is it a good price? Does it appear to be in decent shape? Would YOU buy it?

I've never purchased anything this expensive on eBay before so I really will appreciate any advice you have to share. Thanks.

Seems pricey and I bet a lot of that is due to the rarer color.

good guys has one for $2500

I would also look at the Lakland hollow body & JC as alternatives.

Of coarse if true mud is what you are after, only an EB-2 or Epi Rivolli will due

Thanks Redbird. The bass at goodguys looks really good, but I was hoping to find a model in cherry finish (and without the "artwork" on the back  ). I'll keep looking.

Ask Kevin at Goodguys he might be able to get you one. He finds basses for people too.

Keep hanging on ebay or gbase. They turn up. Don't pay extra for Sparkling Burgundy - it is more common than dealers suggest, and it is a finish that was designed to hide flaws in the ES bodies, so they could sell second rated stuff as first rate. And that one is way too much.

Cherry EB2Ds are not that unusual, but prices are creeping up. If you see one and it rocks your boat, just snag it.

Thanks eb2 . . . excellent advice although I am not usually a very patient person.

Redbird . . . I have communicated with Kevin and he has been very helpful. Thanks for the suggestion.

I can't say enough good things about Kevin. His site is not called GoodGuys for nothing. He's a straight shooter.

He's helped many people. Also he is a Gibson nut like the rest of us and knows his stuff about them.

It's also his business so he goes to all the major guitar shows and should be able to score you your bass, but a solid great playing one without issues.
