Default 1976 fender mustang bass

im not that familiar with basses. but i can across a 1976 (i believe it is)fender mustang bass. what would i need to see if it is legit or a frankenstein. all show like it is an original and there is no datestamp on the neck(which i read was common for that year) . what else would i need to see if the guitar is good and if so what its worth? any help would be appriciated
thanks

i don't know what to say,it sure looks as if it came that way, either that or a really nice mod,you may have to check with fender to see if you actually could get one fretless........i'd like to have it myself

ok i just got off the phone with fender and they said it was a 1up in the production lines (it is custom from fender lines) in `75. they gave me a company to contact to get ahold of some other ppl that might have info on the bass. but no matter where i go ppl are very interested in the bass. they also had no idea on the worth if it (odd as it sounds). thanks again
