Can anybody tell me the differences in sound between these two basses? I'm guessing that the G3 gets a more snappy treble sound while the Ripper is able to get that muddy sound, is this assumption correct? Can both bases achieve similar sounds? Are there no G3 sound samples on the Gibsonbass site because it sounds very similar to the Grabber? Thanks for any help.
Also, might as well try here, I'm looking for a G3 to buy. There was one about an hour from me but someone snatched it up before I could make the trip. If anybody has one to sell please pm me. Thanks again. |

Hey thanks for that link man! I always wondered why the G3 wouldn't have samples on there...and they did all along.
Cool, now I know I like the Ripper sound much more. Too bad I didn't find out till the Ripper on eBay that I wanted got snatched...damn my luck.

The Ripper has the most authority in the fundamentals, but is docile as regards mids and treble. The G-3 is the snappiest with biting treble and solid bass and a pretty clear midrange. The Grabber is all distorted midrange and very little else.
