Hi there,
I just played a brand new Gibson Melody Maker in the store. It has one single coil pup and looks stunning in white with a black pickguard. It's cheap as hell and that's justified by the finish for example, but still it sounds GREAT! Now I've never played a real vintage Melody Maker, have you? If yes, how can I compare their sounds?

My very first guitar was a Melody Maker, bought new in 1959.
The pickup on the new ones isn't lacking in brightness but the original pickup was unusually bright. The neck profile on the new ones is similar to the original. The feel is sure different with the low-budget finish, though. |
