hi,
i bought an EB2-D body as a project a while ago. had to (i know, heresy!) drill new post holes to accomodate a late 60`s gibson saddle bridge i found on line. a bar bridge was originally in there i think. happy to report that i have almost perfect intonation throughout. bought a cheap aftermarket bridge PUP from All Parts that i had rewound, with new magnets. came out pretty hot (9K). found a late 60's eb mudbucker PUP on ebay. the cover doesn't fit on the guitar. the original must've been a nickel cover, much thinner it seems, that came with a black gasket too. i doubt i'll ever find one, if you have any ideas where, please let me know. the choke was bypassed. i may opt for a PUP Mod later. like single coil, parralel, series switch like chrominium's or something else. i never played with an eb2-d before and the bridge PUP makes all the difference. still very muddy but with a lot more clarity and definition. with only the neck PUP on,the sound is as huge as expected but thought it would be less muddy since i chose to bypass the choke. know what i mean chrominium? the tech with 5OOK's pots, original wiring design calls for 25OK for tones . does that make a difference? i don't know what caps are in there; should i make sure they are the same as the originals? if you have any suggestion please let me know. the bass sounds really good. i may not choose to change anything, right? thanks for your help; and once again this is a terrific website! Yeah, they come up. Rarely with the gasket, but i'm not sure that is 100% essential. I've bought a few of the nickel ones on ebay over the years. |
