Exact replacements are available in every Home Depot and hardware store in the United States and Canada. And other places, no doubt. Go to the electronics parts section, and get a push-button switch. Gibson used an everyday lamp or sconce switch. They are made by Gardner Bender. Gibson used two styles - one with a ridged plastic push button, and one with a metal rounded-top button. Both are correct, and both are still available in better hardware stores. Probably set you back a buck and a half. Good luck with your EB-2.

My local OSH carries the Gardner Bender switches and I found that the plastic tipped one is too large of a diameter for the factory hole and the metal one has plastic threads. I ended up getting a Cooper metal one from Lowe's which looks almost like the original. I would guess brands would be different region to region but I don't think the GB switches, or at least the current production models, are the best fit.

A few years back I purchased a Gibson amp footswitch from the same time period that had the same switches as my EB-2's with the metal buttons. I have never seen another, but Gibson may have substituted parts on these when they were out of the bigger button stomp switches. I have seen several high buck basses, with a toggle switch for a replacement & have been told that they were origional by reputable dealers. I doubt it though.

Yeah, I doubt it too. But your footswitch point is excellent. I need one, so i'll be scouring ebay for those next. Well observed George!

My local hardware store has a mix of plastic and metal button switches in the drawers in their fastener section, and some of the GB metal button switches have a plastic threaded outer housing. All are the same as the old Gibbys, and the one I bought a year or so back was the same size. I would check around if need be. They are cheap enough.

Default Maestro

I take it the various Maestro push-buttons are also the same. Can anyone confirm?

I have never seen an EB-2 switch in a Maestro pedal or Gibson amp footswitch. I have owned several older Gibson amps, and for years had an old Fuzz tone, but they all had your standard stomp-box switch. But I would not be surprised at all to find they had used them in some things. That would be the Gibson way.

Most EB-2s of the unmolested type I have come across have had these types of switches (granted not in brass, but nickel):

I have seen them with a simillar but different switch that had a round plastic button, and I suspect those were stock. And there are those that show up with a big toggle switch that many claim were stock, but I have never taken a cotton to that theory.

This is the Amp Footswitch that I came across. Don't know how common it is to find them like this, but they look worn enough to have been in use many years......
