Default Greg Lake Ripper

I am looking for information on Greg Lakes Ripper. I have never a black body maple neck production model. Was his custom? In an article in Guitar Player it mentions a mid-range choke. Did the production models come with this feature?
Thanks

Are you talking about the September 1974 issue of Guitar Player?

yes they all came with a choke (and the four way varitone switch), but you are right, the black ones were typically equipped with ebony fret boards.

Yep, that's the issue. On the live album is sounds great and I always thought it looked cool but I have never seen another like it. Gibson will refinish a natural one so I am searching for a beater. Thanks for answering.
Greg
