Default purple RD artist

this one might be a good candidate for a cheap RD

A nice black refin, and it will look great!

Gibson 1978 RD Artist Bass

might even look good in white

This is in my backyard - I'm very seriously considering jumping all over it as I'd have to pay no shipping - not sure yet whether I'd keep it as a backup or flip it (tough call really).

Default local RD

thats a stroke of luck - I love bad refins - you can get them done properly in any colour you like without worrying about decreasing the value.

I've got a black split heastock EB3L just waiting to come home....

What wild colour would you go for? or would you be conservative and keep it black?

Default Dye job

I personally kind of like the purple dye /clear color. Makes it a modern bass.

I thought it would be cool as all heck to paint an RD, neck, fret board (all wood) gold. It would look really killer all gold, use two part resin poly paint for the fingerboard like my Yasmaha attitude.

Default House of color

I seriously considered having my RD panted a killer gold, like from House Of Colors custom car paints. Then have my Kahler & hardware gold plated.

The problem that stopped me from doing it was, what if taking it apart screws something up electronically & what if it does not sound the same afterward?

I haven't bid on it yet, much less won, so any sort of decision regarding the finish is slightly premature. I suspect (because the seller admits as much) that the current finish is not worth keeping due to the quality of the application. Too bad because that color is interesting.

I've never been a fan of gold tops, mush less a complete gold fin.... for now I'm thinking White is an option (there was a white refin RD for sale a few years ago - it looked killer.... as do the similarly shaped white TBirds).

i'm not sure i'd like that unless it was in black (like your yamaha)
Is it hard wearing enough?

as for gold hardware - I think it would look great on a black or white RD, maybe the blue. I think gold on gold would be too much for my subdued tastes....

Default firebird colors

then there are the firebird custom colours (most of which are pretty questionable admittedly)

colours taken from this pic - these are not great reproductions of the colours. the reds and greens look ok.

Default Rd colla's

I like the cardinal red, blue & gold mist the best. Could always make a mahogany body & get a bubinga neck from warmoth and transplant it's guts.

It's not like it's a holy grail or something. More a bit of shrubbery.

I'm diggin the Polaris White and Ember Red... though a more Oxblood red like my combat boots would be nice ... the Frost Blue also works for me... something like that but maybe more silvery... (ding, ding, ding) Inca Silver (ducking, grabbing coat and running out of the door).
