Hello here,
I recently bought a second hand bridge through ebay. Since i thought it would be a standard EB0/EB2/EB3 bridge i didn't ask for any measurements and didn't bother too much about the distance between the studs. When it arrived my hapiness quickly turned into surprise because it didn't fit. It was just a fraction too big for my bass. It's a '68 model and has serial nr 904713. Is there anyone who knows about smaller bridges and difference in measurements? And which bridge i might need? Any advice or help will be very appreciated. This is a pic of the not fitting bridge. ![]() Kind regards. Christophe |

You need the infamous "Two Point" bridge, which is essentially a tune-o-matic update of the bridge you have. The one you have is actually a pre-68 bridge, and looks to be nickle, so good for Gibson basses made from the 50s up to 65-ish. Not only is the spacing off, the correct bridge has parallel studs, so your bridge will intonate wrong even if you jammed it on there. You can pop it back on ebay and get your money back. The two point (aka THE EVER-TILT) is both hard to find and not so loved by most Gibson bass fans, but you are very limited in what you can use on any EB-2 due to the arched top and what lurks under the plastic covered hole in between the stud holes. I would recommend the Hipshot replacement, which is a better design and causes no damage via alterations to put it on your bass. Finding a correct two point is both an expensive and less-than-rewarding experience. Go Hipshot, and enjoy your bass.
