Wow, I saw Mott The Hoople last night in London for one of their reunion shows! For guys in their 60's (and 70's in Ian Hunter's case) they still rock big time. They were still busting moves and Overend was lurking at the front of the stage with a vintage single pup Thunderbird how I imagine he would have used to.
It was refreshing too to see that they were all using vintage gear, Verden with his Hammond, Mick with his Les Pauls and Marshalls, and Ian Hunter using Les Paul Juniors. A shame Cream didn't do the same for their reunion show. G www.myspace.com/motherlodeonline |

Wow, sounds like it was a good show. Very few pics available online so far. Were they filming do you know?
Glad to hear Mr Watts was using his Thunderbird! |

Hi Jules,
They weren't filming but there will no doubt be clips on You Tube as I've already seen clips from the warm up shows they did at Monmouth last week. Interestingly the basses (a single pup Thunderbird and Dan Electro longhorn) that Overend used had what looked like price tags hanging from the headstock begging the question had the basses been loaned to him? I'm not sure if it was that one unless it was refinned. The colour of the bass he was using looked almost pink but could have been the lighting and it had a black pickguard.
