I own a Gibson Rd standard in ebony. i have owned it for a few months now and just recently has started to buzz. The buzzing stops when i touch any metal part of the guitar e.g strings, bridge, tuning keys. i have checked the bridge earth and the pickups earth wires. everything seems fine. i cant work out why it is doing it?!?!?!?!? has anyone got any ideas?

Have you checked out the bridge ground from the bridge end (usually the other end of the wire is in the post hole closest to the control cavity, under the bushing)? Often there can be a break in the wire, or it can get pulled out a bit so that it looses contact with the bushing (it's not soldered, just held in place by the bushing). If you have a meter see if you can get a reading through the post to the end of the ground wire.
Also have you checked that all the pot casings are connected to ground?

Try using a meter first to save yourself the trouble.
The bushing is not glued in place - shouldn't be anyway. You can use the post as a handle to yank the thing out. Try to pull it straight out, without wiggling it side to swide to avoid widening the hole.

This loosens it - screw the post in a bit and pull - it should pop straight out Only once did this not work for me, with a mid seventies ripper that had a very different bushing - it had a thread both inside and outside and had to be screwed out of the body itself jules |
