I say Supers and Deluxe Reverbs.
Super Reverbs are the ultimate blues, rock and country amps. I wish Deluxe Reverbs came in a bigger package - maybe two 10's and 35 watts

I just put Celestion G12H speakers in both my Deluxes, and wow! More bottom, presense and volume! it's amazing what a speaker can do for your amp. It sounds like a 35 watt amp. I had to build plexiglass panels for the amp for playin live they say I'm "too loud" ???? :D

Super reverb would be my choice as the best but the blues deville is also a very nice blues amp.

definitely a blackface bassman! if only it had reverb though.
jwj4856, the devilles are nice but imo they just don't compare to the brownface, blackface or silverface amps. Neither do the hot rod deluxes, but they are nice amps! I also really dig the blues juniors...very awesome amps in a small package. |

I play a Fender 57 reissue tweed 40 watt twin and it is the best amp I've ever owned. It totally works for my style of playing.I love it for it's sophisticated tweed tone that works well in all the applications I require.Keith Richards tone is one of my favourites and he's been playing these(real ones mind you)for a while now. This amp really gives me that type of crunch...especially with a Telecaster.I crank it up to 8 to get the power tube distortion and that tone works for all the various styles I cover.Obviously, cranking it up that loud would be too loud for most clubs but I place a gig bag or two in front of the amp to partially cover it enough that you hear it clearly in front without blasting the audience(soundmen now love me!).I also place another gig bag in the back on the side to not blast out my drummer either.I've been doing this now for about a year and it works great...never again will I use a master volume!I like Fender blackface tones but I find them a little more scooped and polite sounding for my tastes. The tweed tone is rawer and thicker in the mids...not unlike early Marshalls.I like 60s Marshalls too but there's something about a Fender amp that you don't hear in any other brand. With my tweed twin,I can work it to play S.R.V.,Jimi Hendrix,Stones,Thorogood,ZZ TOP and AC/DC tunes.I play mainly Strats but also use Teles,SG and a Les Paul depending on the song.I do use an 808 tubescreamer and a Marshall bluesbreaker pedal with their gains tuned off to give a slight increase in overdrive and compression.S.R.V. did the same with his amp,the overdrive was turned off,it simply boosted the overdrive that was already coming from the amp being cranked.
