Default Amp to choose

Hi,
I am practicing playing my guitar - sort of a starter (at somewhat mature age) but know "where the legs grow from"
I have a tele - Highway One and want to pick a good sounding amp for it, so the guitar won't feel alone in a living room. (I have some Ibanez G10, crappy one that's somewhat broken already)
Just for some input on the sound I am looking for...
I like the sound of Steve Morse, Keith Richards, Richie Blackmore, David Gilmour and Vinnie Moore and SRV and Roy Buchanan combined. Basically bluesy with the noticable sustain (Steve Morse).
Obviously, the budget is limmited, and I am sure I won't be able to sattisfy all that I need. But in a simplest terms, I want to like the sound that's comming out of the amp. So is it possible to lay a hand on anything decent for under $400. Maybe someone can pursuade me for an extra $100 - but definetely no more than that. I live in NYC and don't mind driving out somewhere (NJ, Connecticut, LI) for it .. so if anyone knows a store where I could purchase the amp, please share.
Maybe anyone can suggest a cheaper amp and combine with some effect pedal ?
I don't much care for tube or no SS. Maybe tubes will keep me limitted to only a certain temperature of sound? and SS is wider?
