here are two similar, but different old listings
this one with non original pickups went for $999 http://cgi.ebay.com/GIBSON-LES-PAUL-...item4ceb773a79 this one with passive pickups went for $799 http://cgi.ebay.com/Gibson-Les-Paul-...item2a01dfefa2 I believe you could get one for around $1000, if you wait and follow ebay. Whether this seller would accept that is another matter. Having said that, I haven't really been following these recently, so I am guessing a little. |

Thats way high, they usually sell between $500-$700 max unless its a flame top.

Seems high to me too. That kind of money seems high even for a LP standard doesn't it? When I brought my standard a couple of years ago I seem to think they were selling for around $1200. I think Barklessdog's valuation is more nearer the mark for that particluar bass.

The Bartolini pickups in the OP bass don't seem to be particularly loved.
The Standards are the ones everyone seems to want, and they are very nice basses too. I really don't know why Gibson stopped making them. |

The earlier LP's with flaming cup headstock seem to go a bit higher than the rest. I'd say 799$ is fair for the passive Special model considering that the early Sinburst finish is quite rare compared to the later active 4 knob Cherry and Ebony models. A later model usually go for 500-700$.
