Default '76 Thunderbird Score!

A friend at another forum pointed out a '76 Thunderbird on Guitar Centers used list. They wanted $1,399.00 for it but the quickly came down to $880.00 with a nice new Epiphone caseThe pickups were swapped out with the new TB Plus Pickups a black pick guard added and the wrong knobs, the good new is she is unbroken Lots of player wear on this thing, someone loved it and played it for years. I pulled the black pickups, added a w/b/w guard I made, correct knobs. For the pickups I put a Dimarzio Model G under a '76 TB cover in the neck position and a empty cover by the bridge............................................ .......for now. I sent two covers to Seymour Duncan to be filled with there wonderful 60' repro units. As she arrived and after.

Congratulations, and nice work "restoring" it too. The incognito Model G is a hoot. And no breaks for less than a grand?! In a couple of years, when the dollar is worth even less, you will be smiling.

Well purists will scoff at the Model G but frankly I love them. I will put a SD repro pup by the bridge but I'm think'n the Model G will stay, they have a great big ballsy sound ! Besides i can always put it right. Not the '76 but a NR I built using one Model G. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvFX4GmKiYo

What a score... I've seen broken 76 birds go for more. Nice tip on the Seymour Duncan repros. How much do they charge for that service?

The last SD custom shop Thunderbird pickups I got were $190.00 each in '76 covers I supplied.
