Epiphone is so much cheaper than Gibson - but is there any discernable difference that a normal musician can hear? Is it more about the reputation of each company than an actual quality difference.

Todays Epiphones do seem well made.

There are differences in woods, electrics etc - best thing to do is try some side by side and see what you think.

You might find as much difference from instrument to instrument, within the same brand.
