Default SB450 Pickup rings

Anyone know where I can get plastic pickup rings for my Gibson SB450? I see that Gibson has reissued a "SG" style bass with the mini-humbucker in the bridge position that looks like the pickups on my 450. I wrote to Gibson asking if they will fit my bass, but I just got back a form letter telling me I can't buy parts for discontinued basses..

Thanks
Chris

That's the Gibson Support crawling away from a specific question. If Uwe (the German with the worlds largest Gibson collection) catches this post he'll most likely will have the answer for you. They do indeed look similar to the EB-3 bridge pickup though.

Duh, I just realised I can help out here. I measured the inner size of the pickup ring of my EB-3's bridge pickup ring and compared with my SG Reissue. They match measuring approx 2 9/16" (65mm) x 1 1/16" (27mm). I had no caliper, just a folding rule so it is approximate. Now you can check your measurements to see if they fit. The SG-Reissue is not as tall though. Differs maybe 4mm but that's probably not so important anyway. Allparts make reissue pickups for the EB's but I don't know if they are exact. Maybe you can buy the ring only? I remember this came up at another forum but unfortunately don't remember the outcome.

That was me. Before the SG RI came out I was wondering if the Epi EB3 pup ring would fit on a 60s Gibby (no; Gibby = Imperial, vs Epi = Metric). Good to know that the SG RI minipup ring will work for me though.

I now have a caliper which is what I should have had in the first place. Sorry, mm only.

EB-3:

Inner dimension: 66x28

Outer dimension: 90x34

Pickup mounting holes centre to centre: 73.5

Height against bridge: 12

Height against neck: 10.5

SG Reissue Bass:

Inner dimension: 68x28

Outer dimension: 93x34

Pickup mounting holes centre to centre: 75

Height against bridge: 6.5

Height against neck: 5

The only thing to worry about is the 1.5 mm off on the spacing between pup mounting screws and possibly the four ring mounting screws sits 1.5mm further apart.
