Hi, first post. My music teacher has a G3 bass, she doesn't now much about vintage. Long story short, I am thinking i can trade off a vintage frankenstein pressision (fender coffee-burst body, vintage Court neck) to her. she dosen't think the G3 plays well at all, but all she needs to do is a few minor things like change the strings. It comes with the orginal case.
I can't find much on the G3, other than telling it apart from a G1, or a ripper, and it is heavy.Ineed more info on it. |

well, I want some background knowlege on it. I am going to use it to talk her into the bass trade, without letting her know the value of it. The thing is I just paid $150 for the base i am trying to swap. LOL.
Also i no about mike Dirnt having one until About the time Nimrod came out. That is one of the main reasons i want it, is for the old Greenday sound. I think it has the same finish too. Can't wait to play Longveiw on it if i can make the trade. |

Yeah, Greenday have helped popularise this bass again - They are quite robust, so i'm surprised he broke it - I suggest you don't throw it about though just in case! When they do break its usually at the join just below the headstock, and can be fixed quite easily by a luthier
Check the links in my first reply, and if you want to ask anything not covered in those pages fire away Your exhange sounds like a good deal - hope you get it! |

Hi!
A wee note for my first post - it was actually Tre` who broke the G3. Mike had left it leaning against his stack. Tre` then knocked the stack over. Splat. Also, on Dookie, he used a 69 P-bass, however on Insomniac you can hear the G3. And of course, most of the live stuff from the late 80's to Nimrod he used a Kramer, Rickenbacker and G3. |

They are worth $600- $1200 depending on condition and if it's complete. Trading her a $150 bass for it would be cheating her.
Not a nice thing to do in my book. I would at least tell her you think it's worth more than what you are trading her at least.
