Default Mike Watt interview

Time to announce another great interview on FlyGuitars.com. John (Redbird) Fertig has been talking to man of the moment Mike Watt about his music, his Gibson bass guitars, and their many modifications... Thanks John!

Mike Watt is a punk rock legend, carving new musical ground with his band Minutemen that was cut tragically short in a car accident with the death of the guitarist and childhood friend D. Boone. Watt went on to form the band Firehose that built it's own following. Post Firehose, Watt has been putting out solo records and recently playing and recording with Iggy Pop & The Stooges, Kelly Clarkson, and his own bands Secondmen, and Missingmen.

Default Thanks

You really do not realize how important this site is until you hear it from the players themselves. It's invaluable for something that has been ignored by the maker itself!

Someday this sites information should all be put in a big coffe table book.

Mike is a true Gibson bass player and lover. He "gets" it in so many ways, beyond the bass. He is one with the Mahogany.

The other really thing that fasinates me about all the pro player interviews here is how many of the Gibson myths, traits, likes & dislikes are proven and agreed on. When you hear generalizations and statements, like about non reverse II T birds sounding better than non reverse IV's and the regular reverses. There really should not be a big difference, but you hear it again & again by people who have had/played both.

Oops! I should scroll down more often.

I already said this at the Pit, but I'll say it again: you did an outstanding job.

I saw him play recently on the Henry Rollins show. His comments on the EB-3 in the interview were very interesting. He has quite a lot of insight. That was a great interview.
