Default Non Reverse Thunderbird

Hi all, just wanted to say hello having just joined the forum and noticed this was the section that seems the busiest
my spurious excuse for posting in the Gibson forum is that I just bought an old Epiphone Non Reverse Thunderbird

I wonder if any of you can tell me anything about when this guitar might have been made? it has a serial number on the back but I can't find anything online for later Epiphones..it was made in Korea, that much I know from the plate on the back

by way of my introduction... i used to play Bass in punk bands back in 76 to 80..sold my last Bass, a 67 Precision in about 84 and regretted it ever since..picked up a 78-80 Precision in April and have the guitar bug again

currently fighting the urge to buy one of these......I think I'm going to have to buy it

Beautiful. I know this is rude, but can I ask what you paid?

I love non-reverse T-birds. Wouldn't care much about owning a "regular" (reverse) T-bird, but I'm curious as to what these go for/what kind of value they have. Thanks.

not rude at all..it cost me £142 on Ebay a couple of weeks ago...there were only a couple of bidders and it the auction ended late on a friday night...there's another one on Ebay UK right now but there's more bidders and a reserve price..it's at £102, reserve not met, as i write this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...1163&rd=1&rd=1

without the mother of pearl scratch plate

i'm more than happy as i expected it to go for £200 or more

mid 90s you say? thanks, i'd not been able to work out a date from the numbers

can you tell me if it's worth upgrading it with any Gibson parts? i had thought of getting Gibson pick ups but tthe Thunderbirds I've seen don't have the same pick ups and I wouldn't want to go cutting the guitar in any way. If anyone can recommend classy pick ups that would fit the pots I'd be interested to hear which ones.

thank you again
PS. this old punk didn't die but he lives his rock and roll dream now through his son who is currently in a band doing rather well over here in europe and asia at the moment...he bizarrely is choosing to play a Peavey on stage at the moment in preference to his Fender Jazz..my excuse to the girlfriend for buying the Maranello is going to be that I can lend it to my son  not that I'm trying to influence him an any way you understand
might as well put a link here to his band

Nice bass!

they are getting harder to find as Non reverses become more popular.

Dammit. At one point a year ago, I was going through a breakup and I had a sunburst 4-string and a 5-string in that color. I sold em all and regret it. I am now starting to re-stock my collection sans the GF.
