Default String Spacing Grabber

Hi my name is Wim an I come from Holland/The Netherlands. This is my first post on this forum (allthough i've been lurkin for quite a while).

I am restoring an old grabber that's been badly abused by it's previous owner. I've put new frets on the neck and I'am also putting on a new nut. And this is where i run into a little problem

Does anybody know what the standerd string spacing is on a Grabber?! And how deep (or better How high) are the slots for the strings mesuered from the fretboard up?!

I've never carved a nut before. I bought a piece of bone at the local guitarshop. I've cut is down to size. But does anybody have tips on how to carve the string spacings? And how to install the nut?!

STRINGS:
On my precision I've always used Rotosound 45-105 strings. I noticed that with the "Throughbody string" technique the thinner part of the rotosounds end up on top of the nut. Can I ignore this and use the Roto-sound strings any way. Or is this a problem and should I start lookin for new strings?

Hey Wim,

great soundclips, and video I think my brain is dead is great

I wouldn't worry too much about the factory set up - best to get the nut cut to give you the action you want for the strings you use with no buzzing at the first fret. You might need extralong scale strings to string it through the body.
